Love Things Vintage

I've been slammed with the logistics of searching for property for my preschool, but thought I'd share a couple goodies that I captured last weekend.
Many, many more to come...

A MidSummer Workshop

Today we had a chance of pace at Casa T. L's mama had a workshop so she got to come over to play and brought her big sister! It's amazing what we got done with an older one around and I was diggin' this multi age thing with a 4 year old. We went on a nature walk, make suncatchers, created art with watercolors and acrylic, swung in the hammock, had water fun, assembled puzzles (that had 24+ pieces) read tons of books, and acted out a fairy tale. It was great because I had a little assistant help me fill the trays with water for watercoloring, help gather botanicals on our nature walk, help push Sophia in the hammock swing, and help me clean up. It was a fun filled day and makes me happy knowing that what I do brings much joy to little ones hearts.

Now I understand why photographers want to shoot first thing in the am, or in the late afternoon. The sun caused for some harsh lighting, but I still think the mood comes through.

Clay

The tots enjoyed manipulating clay today. I made the mistake of adding too much water, so it was very sticky, but after some kneading, and addition of dry clay, we got the right texture.

And this would be my daughter. She's the disheveled one.
Won't keep her hair up in her ponytails or keep the clay off her face.

* sigh *

Fountain Fun

Sophia enjoys being outside and today she discovered the small fountain on our front porch. She even took several steps to get to the fountain and did this funny number where she'd look at me upside down. She'll be walking soon. I think I'm going to get her the sandbox and water table combo for some outside playtime, so she doesn't have to use the porch fountain for play. LOL.

Something new for Sophia

Today was a new experience for Sophia. She went on a swing for the FIRST time and LOVED it. During our morning walk, we stopped off at a small park within my subdivision when I noticed they had those special swings for wee ones, so I popped her in and voila! She was swinging without any worries of falling over.

Simple Play

I love going back to basics, especially with toys. I love Old School toys! Don't get me wrong, there are many exciting new choices out there, but there's just something about old fashioned wood blocks that appeal to me. Perhaps it's the lack of some annoying computerized voice singing everytime a button is pushed, or the constant requirement of changing batteries with the "modern" toys out there. Independent toys store are my favorite place to buy toys and we have several fabulous stores in town. I tried to capture the sweetness of simple play here with my eldest playing with my youngest one morning.
