Vintage Beauty

Yesterday, the kids and I joined the Osborn family for a crawfish boil at the beautiful historic home of Chris and Lori. Mike has been in Louisiana shrimping all week, so he missed out on this (and when does he get to ever GO to a boil instead of having one?).

Both Chris and Lori's parents were in town and the entire Osborn family was there with their kiddies. Lori is such a gracious hostess and so incredibly organized. I take notice in such lovely details because I enjoy doing them myself (what can I say, it's the Martha Stewart and Latina side of me).

We had an wonderful and such a relaxed time and I got to spend some time with sweet Natalie. I'm thankful to know such a beautiful and loving family. Dallas' crawfish even came out tasty! And like he said, I have high standards with the hubby being notorious for his boils. ;)

I wanted to take more photos because there was so much beauty there that day, but didn't want to come off as the crazy mamarazzi friend.

Seis de Mayo

Since the weather was yucky on Cinco de Mayo, I postponed our Fiesta for the following day. Tanya and I hosted this one together and it was great fun pulling this pachanga off! All the mamas contributed and brought food. A big thank you to Mamita Tanya for all of her awesome help!

And Sophia even managed to keep on her party dress on, which made this mamita happy.

I think Ballet Folklórico is one of the most beautiful dances around. The bold and colorful dresses that seem to have endless layers always bring a smile to my face and reminds me of the festivities back home, but they are happening here in Austin with Cinco de Mayo around the corner.



However, the photo of the lady dropping her shopping cart in the grocery store to bailar (dance) to the Mariachis without a care in the world, while the rest of us in the produce section looked on, is the classic moment I captured this week.

Eeyore's Birthday Party

Spent this weekend with fun-filled events. On Saturday, we went to Eeyore's birthday party, a unique Austin festival and absolutely loved it. Enjoyed the huge drumming circle, watched kiddies (and grown ups) in costumes, there was face painting, games, henna, live music, and lots food...and all this benefits non-profit organizations. Definitely family friendly and a great time for all. Festivals like this make me thankful for being able to live in such an awesome city.

Reggae Fest - Austin, TX

Definitely an interesting place for people watching. I discovered that I'm timid with my camera when trying to take pictures of people I don't know. I walked around shilly-shallying while holding my camera but not getting the courage up to snap away at what I REALLY wanted. So, I ended up with several photos of merchandise for sale and the backs of people's heads. There are more shots, but don't want to mix those up with this blog.
