BSM ~ Letterman

Here's my son (albeit, not thrilled to pose for the camera at 7:15 am) wearing his new letterman jacket to school this week. I know I often brag about him, but he has overcome so much in his academics and as well as his music, when (and quite sadly) a school advisor thought the band and music would be too "challenging" for him--and even discouraged him from joining the band when he went into middle school, and suggested going for an "easier" elective.

So, when he earned his letterman jacket after only his freshman year--whereas many students earn theirs in higher grades, I have to say, I wish these teachers could see where they were wrong.

Even during the rough patches, never, underestimate the potential of a student. Ever.

This moment melted my heart this week. And it's my Best Shot Monday.

You're such a proud mama, and with so much reason. Domi is a super fabulous young man, and I still can't get over how gifted he is in music and art.
Yes, a letterman's jacket as a freshman...HUGE accomplishment!

Bragging for such a great reason is completely acceptable. Shame on a student advisor for selling him short. What a lovely story and picture for this week's BSM. I hope he is as proud of himself as you are of him.

he is an incredible young man!

We watched the marching band practice the other day. It made me think of Domi, and appreciate what he does all the more!

C-man is sitting with me and said, "That's Domi in his jacket!" and then pointed out the trumpet on his sleeve.

Congratulations to him! With 2 teens in high school right now I have to agree, it is so important to highlight those outstanding moments and encourage them always. The rough spots seem to be pretty rough.
